San Antonio FC (2-3-3, 9pts) left Taft Stadium last night with a valuable road point as they drew with the Oklahoma City Energy (1-4-1, 7pts). It was the visitors who controlled most of the match early on, creating multiple chances that ultimately led to a Danny Garcia goal off a Shawn Chin assist. The goal put the visitors up 1-0 in the 18'. It was Garcia's second goal of 2016 and gave SAFC their first lead in a match since they were up 1-0 at home against the Tulsa Roughnecks at the end of April. The lead wouldn't hold though as the Energy played more aggressive after falling behind. The pressure on San Antonio finally gave in the 37' as the Danish international, Danni König, equalized for the home team.
The second half was all San Antonio, however, as the Alamo City boys applied consistent pressure the led to a handful of opportunities that they weren't able to finish on.
Next up for San Antonio is an Alamo Derby with NPSL side, Corinthians FC of SA in the U.S. Open Cup. The match will be midweek on Wednesday at Toyota Field. It will be the first competitive match between the two; they did play a pre-season game that ended 2-1 in favor of SAFC. Next Saturday the Alamo boys will host the Energy in a rematch of yesterday's match.
