All-time regular season series: 1-0-1, Tied
Last match: 2-1 home win vs COS (2016)
*Tulsa Roughnecks FC forfeited its game against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for using an ineligible player on March 25, 2017. As a result, the Switchbacks were awarded a 3-0 victory.
San Antonio FC (2-0-0, 6pts) will play their second of three consecutive home matches when they face the visiting Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (1-1-0, 4pts) on Friday night. This will be the third overall meeting between the two sides, with each grabbing a win on their home turf in 2016. It is also the first Friday match in SAFC history.
San Antonio is coming off a huge home opening victory over LA Galaxy II this past Saturday, their first win in that series. In front of 8,081 rabid fans Rafa Castillo, Michael Reed©, and Billy Forbes all scored goals to give San Antonio a 3-0 win and its first home opening victory in club history.
Colorado Springs comes into this match unbeaten as well, albeit in a *technical fashion. The Switchbacks had dropped their season opener versus the Tulsa Roughnecks 4-1 on the road in Oklahoma. However, the USL announced on Monday that Tulsa had forfeited that match because they fielded an ineligible player. The league subsequently awarded Colorado a 3-0 win instead of the loss they actually played to. TRFC Defender Paris Gee "was not eligible when he entered the match as a substitute in the 74th minute against Colorado Springs."
Their match last week was a 1-1 draw at home in a "snow bowl" versus OKC Energy.
San Antonio will look to continue their season opening hot streak with Billy Forbes leading the way with a team high two goals scored. In front of goal, Matt Cardone has kept two clean sheets making San Antonio the only Western Conference team to have yet to allow a goal. In the East, the Tampa Bay Rowdies have yet to allow a goal as well.
NOTE: If you're planning on attending the match, do be aware that a section of I-35 near the NE Loop 410 intersection, all lanes between Rittiman Road and George Beach Avenue, will be closed starting at 9 p.m. Friday until Monday at 5 a.m.
The game is Friday, April 7th at 8:00pm CST. #SAvCOS
