In its inaugural year, San Antonio FC will host the winner of the First Round U.S. Open Cup match between Corinthians FC of San Antonio (NPSL) & NTX Rayados (USASA). A match with Corinthians would set up the first San Antonio Derby in city history. The two teams met this pre-season, but this would be the first meaningful game between the two Alamo City neighbors. All eligible USL teams enter the tournament in the Second Round where the winners will go on to face the teams from the 2nd division, NASL.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing soccer competition in the United States and the world's third-longest-running open soccer tournament. The winner of the competition will receive one of the four berths for American clubs in the CONCACAF Champions League tournament. The Champions League tournament pits the top football clubs in North America against each other for continental supremacy. It is the most prestigious international club competition in North American football, and the winner will qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup.
San Antonio's Second Round match will be played on May 18 at Toyota Field. #USOC2016
